Tara Adams is your average high school junior in your average problem free school (does that still exist? lol) - well, at least that's what everyone thinks. You'd never suspect it, thanks in part to her incredibly quiet personality, but she's got a secret identity as the most popular DJ in Seattle, known as Radio Rebel! As Radio Rebel, she is able to say what she really feels and she gives a voice to all - not just the popular kids, but the ones others tend to ignore - the quieter kids, the unpopular kids, and she questions the status quo. Unfortunately, her popularity means she must choose between keeping her on air identity secret, or being able to own her own voice when the (rotten!) school principal cancels the Prom and risk losing everything.
Originally airing on the Disney Channel, this movie is perfect for the 'tween and young teen audience, ages 10-15. It doesn't really touch on anything overly controversial - it is a Disney related movie, after all - but it does show a few lessons, such as speaking out for things you believe it. There are better movies out there, but this one is a fun one that does no harm, and 'tweens should love it. Here's the trailer:
The DVD also contains some special features: some featurettes "Who Is Radio Rebel?", "From Prom to MORP", "Rockin' Out With Radio Rebel","On the Set With Debby Ryan", "Red Carpet Rebel", some deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and a music video.
Radio Rebel was released on DVD and Blu-Ray yesterday and is available wherever DVD's and Blu-Ray's are sold. Not rated (see above), the total running time is 89 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $27.97, but Amazon has it available for $18.83 as of this posting.
