New American Girl: McKenna Shoots For The Stars Clips

I have a very fond place in my heart for the American Girl series - partly because I had my own beloved Samantha doll when I was a little girl (it's set aside for my daughter when she's a little bit older), and partly because I just adore the historical branch of the American Girl dolls. Sometimes, it's a little hard to find age appropriate toys for little girls. I want my daughter to play with toys that don't look like, well, hookers, for a lack of a way to put it. I think it's sad that girls these days seem to outgrow dolls when they are 7-8 - I remember still playing with my dollhouse when I was 12!

One of the newest DVD's coming out by the American Girl company will be called An American Girl: McKenna Shoots For The Stars. It follows McKenna Brooks, a determined and confident young gymnast, in this all-new modern-day adventure. McKenna is on track to make the regional competitive gymnastics team but off-track in school, where she’s suddenly struggling to keep up. When her teacher suggests a tutor, she’s embarrassed and desperate to keep it a secret from her friends. Then a bad fall at the gym sidetracks her from her favorite sport. Will she recover in time to make the team? Can she succeed in school, too? McKenna needs to focus on her strengths to overcome her challenges – and, with the help of family and friends, find a way to believe in herself again.

An American Girl: McKenna Shoots For The Stars will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on July 3rd, 2012, only at Walmart. It will air live on NBC on July 14th, 8/7c. It's perfect timing with the Olympics upon us this Summer, as I am sure a whole new generation of little girls are going to fall in love with gymnastics - especially if USA wins a gold medal in the sport!
