Book Review: Preschool Gems By Leslie McCollom

I recently received a copy of the new book Preschool Gems: Love, Death, Magic, and Other Surprising Treasures From The Mouth Of Babes by Leslie McCollom to review.

I had no clue how hysterically funny little kids were until mine started opening her mouth and letting them rip. Sometimes I am left saying to myself, Did she REALLY just say that? lol I've called her my "little alcholic without a filter", and boy, it sums it up. Girlfriend has NO filter. And you know what? I love it that way. It gives me some serious entertainment! ;) (I might change my mind when she's 13 and she's turned into the evil creature known as a chupacabra teenager!)

The author is a preschool teacher and the creator of the @preschoolgems Twitter feed. She started sharing these little gems because even though she swore she'd remember them, five minutes later they were easily forgotten. This way, they are remembered for life - because who would want to forget little doozies like:

"I don't care about time-outs. I only care about my life."

or the fabulous:

"Sorry, but your luck is doomed."

And something that I swear I've heard my own spawn say:

"My powers are resting now."

The book is also filled with some original artwork that looks drawn by little kids - very appropriate. If you're looking for a few giggles, or you're just stuck in a "why are my kids taking over the house?!" moment and just need to be reminded of some of the funny things they do, pick up a copy of Preschool Gems and prepare to giggle and shake your head through the book. Kids! It's a quick read as the book isn't very long, so it won't take long to get through it at all.

Visit the author's website here.
