Exhausted...

Momma needs a nap! We just got back from a several night camping trip. It was fun, but also full of several FAILS.

Fail #1: sleeping bags. It was supposed to be in the lower 50's at night, so I packed the sleeping bags that are rated 40-60 degrees. The wind picked up from storms in the area, and guess who froze to death? That would be me. I have now determined it is easier to bring the warmest sleeping bags and leave them open, than to freeze at night.

Fail #2: Not packing the pads or the blow up bed for under the sleeping bags. I am still not 100% from my surgery, and sleeping straight on the ground was BRUTAL. I averaged about an hour of sleep a night. No sleep = cranky Storm.

Fail #3: packing too much junk. At least that's what I felt like! I guess gone are the days of camping with just whatever fit into my backpack, because it felt like we packed everything BUT the kitchen sink! lol (And yes I brought my laptop even if I didn't really do much with it. Bad me!)

Fail #4: I forgot my camera! There was so many things I wanted to shoot, and here I was camera-less. Boooo!

And good thing I did not plan to rely on DH for catching dinner, as he stayed fishless yet again. (Fish 2, DH 0 this summer) Outside of the very breezy nights, we did have some lovely weather, we saw a seal while we were on the beach, and we had fun. Now to tackle the giant pile of laundry that came home with us... :(

I feel for you. Camping can be brutal, and fun at the same time. I hope the good outweighed the bad. There's something about laundry and camping...I always feel like I've got a month's worth of laundry after a few days of camping. It's definitely a labor intensive activity, before, during and after.

Glad to hear you had fun, regardless of the snafus. We used to tent camp for years and I loved it but always seemed to run into problems like yours. We now have a camper permanently parked at a local campground and we go there every weekend. I thought that by having a camper we'd pack and take less than we did when tent camping. Was I ever wrong!

Glad you had fun minus the Fails. I don't think I could sleep on the ground anymore either. I would have been freezing too. I am always cold. How cool that you saw a seal.
