Random Thoughts Tuesday - The Death Of Another Can Opener

Seriously, we're already Tuesday again?!

So I killed yet another can opener a few days ago. This one we only had for what, about a month? I don't think I even used it to open a single #10 can, so that's not the problem. The Kitchen Aid one had a warranty on it, but we figured by the time we paid for postage (it's heavy) we were better off buying new. Yeah, the new one didn't work so well either. Can you sense my frustration? I hereby challenge any company to step up to the plate and prove to me their heavy duty can opener actually lasts more than a few months, because I have yet to see one that does. I'm sick of the waste going in the landfill, and most importantly - I'm sick of throwing money away!

House is clean (well, except for stray toys lol), laundry is out drying, bread is rising. I'd feel accomplished, but I feel like there is still 5,000 things to do. I still need to find paint for the living room, before I run out of time on that project. We all know how long summer lasts here in Washington (about two weeks for those who don't know. lol)

My lone tomato plant is dying. Booo! :( So much for doing any canning this year, lol. I'm planning to hit up the restaurant supply and get some carrots and peppers this week to dehydrate though. Once they are dry, I'll either foodsaver them or just store them in mason jars. At the cost of things lately, I figure I can't go wrong, and I always use both of those in assorted slow cooker dishes and soups. Plus, the beauty of dehydrated foods is that they take up so little room!

We actually attended a lecture on this at ZomBcon Tax Implications of the Zombie Apocalypse It sounds super funny, but just imagine the nightmares of going through a 3-4 day zombie apocalypse, losing loved ones, but the US government is still intact, so now you need to prove your relative is "dead". Then you've got the paperwork nightmares, the estate, etc taxes to be paid... let me put it this way, if you're hoping for a zombie apocalypse, you'd better have your camera with fresh bodies to take some photos and prove your relative is dead. lol And knowing the US government, if your zombie relative is still moving, they'll probably make us pay a license tax to let them hang around. And of course, there would be more paperwork with that. *rolls her eyes*

You know where we will be October 14th. ‘Walking Dead’ Showrunner Glen Mazzara Talks Zombies Are you as excited for season three of The Walking Dead as we are?

Comic-Con attendees flee zombies on city streets

Nifty idea, if it was real: Chain Saw Sword I like my weapons to be, oh, you know - useful.

I am totally going to do this and put it outside the door. Haha! I just need to find a hand. All these Halloween decorations and props, and not a single hand. What is wrong with us? LOL

For entertainment purposes today:

I'm in trouble! Why couldn't it be the right?! Well, I have the wall to my left. I'm toast. I hope you have a better option than me!

I've had a Black & Decker under the cupboard can opener for over 10 years now that's still going strong - they sure don't make things like they used to, do they? I was thinking it's about time to replace it (not because I need to, but to get something a little more 'modern' - maybe I should rethink that.) :)

You can have some of our summer - I've been lamenting that we aren't already moved back to Washington because the weather there is a much better option comparatively speaking. ;)

I have a plethora of weapons to my left - think headphones or a printer or a stack of books would be good against a Zombie attack? ;)

Thanks so much for being such a diligent Rebel! :)

I must say I am still laughing. I seem to recall another post not so long ago lamenting your can opener being broken once again...
Mine has lasted at least a few years but I agree with the first comment:
They are not made the way they use to be!
Still, there must be someone somewhere in Blogland who has an answer for you!
Blessings and hang in there!

How do you do that...break a can opener. I only ask because I can break anything but have never broken that!

Love the hand as a Halloween decoration! May have to try that.
