Moms, we're all familiar with those days: those ones where you want to be the one throwing yourself on the floor throwing a temper tantrum, not your child. (here, here!) Mommy Mixology tossing in the humor we need to get through those days with a silly drink to give you a giggle on those days where your house looks like a hurricane just ripped through it. (That would be my house, today. It's 93 degrees outside, and let's not get into what my living rooms feels like thanks to all those windows and no whole house air conditioning. It can look like this until it cools off. What? It's not like this is Confessions of a Perfect Housewife, after all!)
With sarcastic drink names like "Mouthy Muchacho" and "No!Jito", each of the more than sixty drink recipes are introduced with a mini story from the author that gives each drink it's name. There are chapters, starting at conception and working your way up to Kindergarten. Each recipe has a complete list of what's necessary to make it, and quick step by step directions to do so. There are twenty or so color photographs of the drinks throughout the book, which is really just a small gift book. Call it a fun gift for a baby shower for mom, or a silly gift "just because" to perk up a frazzled new mom. If you don't giggle your way through this book, you really need a vacation. ;)
My vote goes to the "STFU Sushie", a not-so-gentle reminder of all the moments when strangers insert their feet into their mouth and say stupid things you want to scream at - like "are those all yours" to those Moms with several small children close in age. Or "when are you due" and your youngest child is six months old.... yeah, those people.
Vist the author's website here. (Psst... you'll love her!)
