One of the newest additions to the Disney Junior lineup, Doc McStuffins is Dottie McStuffins, a six year old little girl who wants to be a doctor like her mother is. She has a stethoscope with "magical" powers - when she puts it on, stuffed toys come to life! She gives check ups to the toys, and fixes them up so they are all better in her playhouse "clinic". There is some singing throughout the episodes, and a little bit of healthy advice for kids to learn from. It's a cute show, and as a parent I love that there's a positive role model hiding in this show! It's geared towards girls ages 2 to 7, but that doesn't mean older kids - or boys - couldn't enjoy it too. My daughter thinks this show is awesome!
This is the first release on DVD from this show, and it features five full length episodes (each has two "stories" in it): "Engine Nine, Feelin' Fine!", "The Right Stuff", "caught Blue Handed", "To Squeak Or Not To Squeak", "Ben/Anna Split!", "That's Just Claw-ful", "The Rip Heard Round The World", "Walkie-Talkie Time", "Dark Knight", and "Hallie Gets An Earful". While there are no special features on this DVD, it does come with a digital copy so you can view it on just about any device, from your laptop to your smartphone. It also has a cute little sticker activity book inside, and keep your eyes peeled out for copies that include a peel off sticker with a coupon where you can save $6 if you purchase this DVD at the same time as one other Disney Junior DVD included on this list. This title is also qualifies as part of the Disney Movie Rewards program, so be sure to enter the code inside the box to get your reward points. (They have some great rewards at the moment, if you haven't checked it out recently - hurry to do so!)
Doc McStuffins: Friendship Is The Best Medicine will be released on DVD this coming Tuesday, August 21st. Widescreen format, it is rated TV-Y, and safe for all ages, but geared towards girls 2-7. The total running time is 120 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $19.99, but Amazon has it available on pre-order for $14.85 as of this posting.
