Malibu Hard Water Natural Wellness Treatment is a patented fresh-dried vitamin complex specifically formulated for hair shampooed in hard water or exposed to water softeners that use salt and/or phosphates. When I first saw this product, I assumed it was simply a deep conditioner. This one is a little different from the usual conditioning treatments: it's actually little dry crystals! It's meant to remove all hard water minerals that can discolor or damage hair, while eliminating any brassiness, normalizing hair texture, and revitalizing shine and manageability. It should also cut down ont the dry feeling you tend to get with hard water.
To use, you simply wet and shampoo your hair as usual, then empty the single use packet of Malibu Hard Water Natural Wellness Treatment into your cupped hand, allowing some water in to get the crystals damp and dissolved into a gel. You'll want to apply this to your scrunched hair, getting it as thoroughly into it as you can, and allow to stay on your hair for five minutes before rinsing. Next, shampoo again and use your usual conditioner.
It sounds a little harder than it is, but just be careful not to overdo adding too much water and letting the product just go down the drain! (The great part about the crystals is that you save on space cost, as well as shipping weight, making it more environmentally friendly than some products!) There was more than enough product for my nearly waist length hair. It's recommended that you use the Malibu Hard Water Natural Wellness Treatment at least once a week, and it's safe to use daily if you'd like. Unfortunately, I only received a single use packet, so I can't comment on long term use of it, but I did notice that my hair definitely felt softer after use. I would recommend that if your hair isn't overly dirty (not full of styling products or greasy/sweaty) that you skip shampooing both times, and simply shampoo after using this product, but that is your choice. Twice seems like overkill to me, and if I was using this product regularly I would only stick to one shampooing each time.
