In near times, the country has gone through an awful civil war. In order to get citizenship, one must participate in the MARK program. Without it, you cannot buy food, see a doctor, or do just about anything. Those who do take the MARK can go about life as normal - just like before the war. Those who don't take the MARK, tend to disappear, never to be seen or heard from again. Logan Langly, a teen who was supposed to get his MARK on his 13th birthday, backs out at the last minute - just like his sister did, five years ago. Lily disappeared right away. When Logan discovers that Lily might be held in a secret government prison called Acheron, he contacts an underground network to try to rescue her. Along the way, he hears tales of a mysterious banned book with whisper thin pages that could hold the answers to the real meaning of the MARK. Will Logan make it to find Lily and save her?
Sneak is book two in the young adult The Swipe Series. I haven't read the first book, but I'll have to check out a copy now that I've read this one, because I am interested in the beginning of the story. Those of you who are Christian will probably immediately see that the storyline is familiar to those who have read the book of Revelations. I didn't pick up the book because of that, I was interested in the who underground part of the book. I have always apocalyptic fiction. With all the talk online of FEMA camps, the way the TSA has gone out of control, and some of the new laws that have been signed in... well... I'm starting to believe we could be on this path. At times it was almost hard to remember this was a book geared for the YA crowd - it's well written and I enjoyed the storyline as it had me gripping my seat at moments.
So if you're into end of days fiction, or looking for a book to help bring your teen or tween aboard onto stealthy preparedness (cough), you might want to add The Swipe Series to your to-read list.
