Kids 'N' Pets sent me over a bottle of their Instant All Purpose Stain & Odor Remover to try out in my home. Now granted, I don't have a ton of carpeting in my home, only in our bedroom - but I'm guessing that you can already guess where the pets' favorite room to get sick in is. Yep, the bedroom. Groan!
To use when getting pet or child related stains out of carpets, you first need to remove any excess liquid (or solid) by picking it up or tossing a paper towel or rag on the spot. Make sure you test for colorfastness on the carpeting (or furniture) in an out of the way spot, just in case! Shake the bottle well, then saturate the stain. You want to make sure you are using enough product that it gets all the way down into the stain, so it removes the odors - this is especially important if it's a pet urine stain, because you don't want them to smell that spot later down the road and continue doing their business there. You'll want to leave the product working for at least 10 minutes, more if it's a pretty bad stain (especially if a pet has been sick after eating dry kibble with coloring - that's one of the hardest stains to get out of light colored carpeting!) If you're trying to clean up an older stain that you've missed or just not been able to get out, you'll want to let the product sit on it at least an hour or more if you can.
Then, you'll want to blot the stain with a paper towel or rag to lift it out of the carpeting. If it's just an odor you're trying to get it, you can simply let it air dry. Remember, the more product you use, the longer it will take to dry.
To use Kids 'N' Pets as a laundry pre-treater, simply pour some of the product onto the stain, and allow it to work for five minutes before tossing it into the washer as usual. If you have a particularly smelly load of laundry, like after your kiddo has been sick, you can simply add one cup of the product to the wash load as you are adding in your laundry detergent.
The great part about this biodegradable product is that it has an easy to use pop top so you're sure you're getting it on the exact spot you want to use it on. You can use it on everything from car upholstery to mattresses to your sofa. (Just remember to check for color fastness first)
I don't exactly have a shortage of pets running around my home (snort!), so it didn't take too long after this arrived to get a chance to try it out. Solstice was my first offender, getting my blanket on the couch while I was sleeping. (grumbling) Because I was so worried about the odor, not only did I pre-treat the spot, I also added the product to the load of laundry. The blanket came out of the wash stain free, and smell free!
Magick must be on to me - he's the one who gets sick on a regular basis, but since this product arrived, has only gotten sick on the wood floors. I'm not complaining of course, but I wish I could say how well it worked with pet vomit. (I'll update I guess when he "forgets" I have a review to do. lol At least I am armed and ready to go!)
If you have pets, especially older ones that frequently have accidents, or young ones just learning their potty routines - you can't go wrong purchasing Kids 'N' Pets, especially if you have kids running around too. You can purchase it at stores like Walmart and Fred Meyer, as well as online via Amazon. It comes in several different sizes and varieties, so you can stock up and buy bigger if you have the need. (Check the cleaning product section, not the pet section)
By the way, Kids 'N' Pets is cruelty free, and it's made here in the USA! Two thumbs up from me on that too!
I received the product mentioned above in order to try it out in my own home and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
