Review: BabyLit Books

It's no secret that we love books around here, is it? I grew up in a household with a love of books, and it was very important to me that I pass the love of reading onto my daughter. Her bookshelf is overflowing, and I never say no to reading a book aloud to her. I started reading many of the classics myself when I was six - from Huckleberry Finn to Moby Dick - so I'd love to see her do the same thing. This is one of the reasons why I was so excited to hear about the new BabyLit series!

BabyLit brings classic writers like Lewis Carroll, Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austen, and William Shakespeare to toddlers by creating oversized board books with bright colors and easy to understand words. Written by Jennifer Adams and illustrated by Alison Oliver, the Baby Lit series brings literature alive for the little ones. Some are counting primers, like Jane Eyre : Little Miss Bronte, while others like Little Master Carroll : Alice In Wonderland simply share important words that sum up the story.

Even though my daughter at the age of three is getting past the main age range for the books, she loved the pictures, especially from Alice In Wonderland. The counting primers help her work on her numbers. I am so pleased to have been introduced to this series of books! (Here's hoping there's an Edgar Allan Poe book in the works! Please, please, please!)

The suggested cover price for each of the BabyLit books is $9.99 each. Several of the books are now available for the iPad and iPhone, for reading on the go. Published by Gibbs-Smith, you can purchase the books at your favorite bookstore, or online via sites like Amazon.

I received several of the books mentioned above in order to read them and share my thoughts on them. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Looking for a recycled craft to do this week during Spring Break? Malt-O-Meal cereals and TerraCycle have a fun – and environmentally-friendly – DIY project the kids will love. All you need are food wrappers, scissors, and a few other items to make your very own Easter basket to fill with sweets.

The project is easy to make with an adult's supervision. For complete project details, click here.

Easter baskets not your thing? How about a Lunchables Woven Bracelet, or a Yogurt Cup Herb Garden? You can find these and other great project ideas over on the Terracycle Do-It-Yourself Projects page.

Speaking of Terracycle, to keep those candy wrappers in your Easter baskets out of a landfill, TerraCycle and the M&M’s Candy Wrapper Brigade offers an easy alternative. Simply collect those empty candy wrappers from the Easter baskets and send them to TerraCycle. You'll receive two points per item collected that can be used for charity gifts or converted to cash and donated to any school or charity. TerraCycle even covers the shipping cost! TerraCycle also collects Malt-O-Meal bags through its Cereal Bag Brigade, if you choose not to turn them into Easter baskets, as well as many other wrappers and packaging you normally think wouldn't be recyclable! Visit www.terracycle.com to sign up for the Brigade programs and view the full list of items TerraCycle accepts.

Book Review: Beyond Molasses Creek By Nicole Seitz

I recently received a copy of the new book Beyond Molasses Creek by Nicole Seitz to review.

Ally Green is a flight attendant who has traveled everywhere, but must return home to bury her father in South Carolina. With that comes seeing her former best friend, Vesey Washington who lives across Molasses Creek - and one of the reasons she ran off in the first place. Vesey is the opposite of Ally, as he has never left their hometown. Ally is surprised to find a message from her father asking her to quit running from her past.

Across the world, Sunila Kunari is trying to escape her life of slavery in a rock quarry is Nepal as a sculptor. She finds a mysterious sketchbook which makes her wonder if there's more to her story than she's ever been told, and she decides to follow the truth to freedom, wherever it might lead her.

Three different people, all entwined together at the end. (I won't say how, you'll have to read it to find out!) Reading the back of the book, I had assumed Ally to be much younger, but when I started reading the book, I realized that she was much older - in her 60's. I felt a little confused.

In fact, confused kind of summed it up at times. I wasn't sure if it was just the way the book was written (it jumps from one character's perspective to another each chapter), or how the characters came out at times, but I ended up dragging myself through this book. I think it's geared more towards a different reader than me. Sunila's story was more interesting to me - I would have liked to have read the entire book from her perspective, rather than Ally/Vesey. One more thing... while the publisher of the book is known for it's Christian Fiction, this book definitely wasn't the usual offering - there's really not a lot of religion in this book.

At the end of the book is a reading group guide, with discussion questions.

Beyond Molasses Creek by Nicole Seitz is a softcover fiction paperback book published by Thomas Nelson. It is 312 pages long. The suggested cover price is $15.99, but Amazon has it available for $11.38 as of this posting. It is also available in large print, as well as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I receive a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Review: Happy Easter ‘ZinePak

If you're traveling this Easter, you might be looking for something to keep your kid(s) occupied during the journey. Whether it's by car, train, or plane, kids get bored easily! The Happy Easter ‘ZinePak can help cure some of that boredom - or be a fun Easter basket filler.

It comes with an activity book with 60 pages of original games, puzzles, and activities, as well as a 10-song Easter CD and 15 fun stickers. All of the songs are performed by kids, but not all are Easter themed. There are songs such as "Bingo", "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, and "Here Comes Peter Cottontail". It's best for ages 4 to 6, as most of the songs are too childish for older kids, while younger kids may have problems with some of the activity pages.

Made in the USA, the suggested retail price for the Happy Easter ‘ZinePak is $5.00, and you can purchase it online via their website, or at Walmart.

I received a sample of the product mentioned above in order to share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.

Review & Giveaway: Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler

Daily readers know that last Fall, I made the decision to cut garbage pick up from our home. It made sense - not only did we cut the cost by almost 75%, the recycling and dump is on our way to the dog park, so we don't have to go out of our way to drop it off. Even better? The recycling places takes more recyclable items than the pick up did, so we have even less trash! Wanting to keep the costs down even further, we've been more attention to whether what we purchase is either recyclable or compostable, keeping our trash down to a minimum.

The only problem? Storing all that recycling during the week now that I didn't have a recycling can anymore! That's why I was so interested in Rubbermaid's new Hidden Recycler!

The Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler gets your recyclables off the counter and hidden out of sight, by attaching to the inside of a cabinet door. At first, I thought this meant it had to be permanently installed with screws, which sounded not only like a giant headache, but something that could be a pain for anyone renting or getting ready to sell their home. I was wrong though, as the Hidden Recycler uses hooks that hang over the cabinet door. Those little hooks are padded, so they won't scratch the outer surface of your door. (You can also install it with screws, if you'd rather have a more permanent solution)

It arrives flat and you can store it that way too if you aren't using it at the moment:

The five gallon bag has a sturdy outside fabric with a leak proof liner inside. It's machine washable (line dry), so you can sanitize it as needed. Because the fabric is soft sided, not only can it squeeze into most cabinets, but you can hold up 36 twelve ounce cans, and you can even fit bigger items into it like milk jugs and laundry detergent bottles. The bag itself comes unattached from the top part, and it has a handle so you can carry it out to your recycling bin when it's full - or in our case, we just use that handle to carry it out to the truck and take to the recycling area!

Even better? The bag and all of it's packaging is made from recyclable material - 65% post consumer resin - and it's recyclable if you've abused it to death and need a new one. ;)

I really like the Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler, and it's a lot nicer looking than the plastic bags I was reusing over and over! We just love that handle - we even realized we can take it along camping, and hang it from our lantern pole to keep the recyclables out of the way thanks to that handle! (Yippee!)

The Hidden Recycler is currently available for purchase online at Rubbermaid.com and in store at Meijer stores (located in the Midwest). It has a suggested retail price of $15.99.

Win it! Thanks to Rubbermaid, one lucky winner is going to win a Rubbermaid Hidden Recycler of their own! To enter, check out Rubbermaid's recycling section, and tell us which of the three products you think would be most helpful in your home.

Struggling To Keep Your Pets?

As a pet lover, it breaks my heart to hear stories of families having to give up beloved pets because they can't afford to keep them anymore. I am hearing it more and more, and the shelters are becoming overwhelmed. If you're struggling to feed and care for your pet, but you don't want to part with them, there are things you can do to help cut a few costs.

Contact the company who makes the food you feed your pet most often, and ask for coupons. Many have email lists that send out coupons on a monthly basis, from brands like Wellness and Blue Buffalo, to the family of Purina products. If you don't have a printer or can't afford to purchase ink, call the 1-800 number found on the bag of food or the website and ask for those coupons. Emailing will work too, but I have found that companies may be more generous in this situation if you speak to them.

If you purchase food at certain stores, check to see if they have a frequent buyers club. Sometimes if you purchase so many bags (even if you used coupons!) over the course of a year, they'll give you one bag free. For instance, one of our local pet stores has a buy nine bags, get the tenth free, and you have a year to purchase that many. Another store gives a 15% discount if you purchase 12 of the same item, which helps if you have to purchase canned food. And another one gives you 10% back of your purchase in free products at the end of the year - which can add up. If you shop at grocery stores for your pet food, be sure to choose a store where you can get gas rewards for purchasing, which can help you in the long run.

Even cheaper? Make your own pet food. There are many recipes available on the web for making both cat and dog food. Contact your local butcher or speak with the butcher at your local grocery store. Some will hold markdown meats for you to use to make meals - and being able to purchase meats at a reduced cost can really help. Just be sure to either cook those meats right away, or freeze them. Getting your pet sick from bad meats will cost you an emergency vet visit! For around $5 a week, I feed two 30 pound dogs by home cooking their foods.

Some food banks do have pet foods, but you have to ask, as it's not something they usually advertise. If you ask and they don't, they might see the need to carry it in the future, so you aren't asking for nothing!

Ask on Craigslist or Freecycle for items your pet might need, and be sure to check those sites frequently. Sometimes you'll find folks giving away open bags of food because their pet passed away, or because they bought too much. (For instance, for us it's far cheaper to purchase rabbit chow in 50 pound bags, but that's more than our bunny will eat in a year, so we share half via Freecycle when we buy it. It's a win-win situation!)

Keeping your pets weight down will help cut health costs down the road. If you have a dog, be sure to walk them daily for at least 20 minutes. With cats and other small animals, play! Overweight pets are unhealthy pets, and end up having spinal and joint problems.

Stores like Petco hold vaccination clinics on a regular basis. Contact your local store to find out when the next one will be held. This can save you 50% over the cost of most vets. You can also contact your local Humane Society who can help with spaying or neutering your pet, as well as vaccinations. You may need a current paycheck stub to show proof of income, but sometimes that can help you get the surgery free! Your local shelter can sometimes also direct you to a veterinarian who can help with reduced cost visits, too.

Speaking of vet visits, some clinics will put out coupons for a free vet visit. Be aware that this is the office visit cost only, and won't include any vaccinations or medications, but it can help make sure that your pets are healthy and that there are no pressing health issues to be worried about. If you receive a coupon, and it's not your regular vet, you can always try asking your current veterinarian if they would be willing to honor the coupon. Banfield Pets is one nationwide clinic that gives free exams for new patients.

If you have to move due to not being able to afford your mortgage or rent, be sure to ask before signing any new rental payments if your pets are allowed to live there. If you are unable to find a pet safe place to live, contact local rescue groups for housing recommendations - many times the word of mouth can help. (It could also help "grease the wheels" into getting your pet into housing where they aren't normally allowed) Rescue groups might also be able to help foster your pet(s) for a few weeks while you find a place to live, but be aware many are overwhelmed right now too and may not be able to help other than recommendations.

Can you live with a pet or two while living in your car? It can be done, but remember that it is just as uncomfortable for your pet as it is for you. Try to keep a favorite bed and toy for your pet, so they still have something that is theirs and familiar to them. Make sure your pet(s) are leash trained - this goes for cats too, because you don't want them to be frightened and run out the door. Know where there are dog parks and safe places for dogs to run off leash so they are getting plenty of exercise, since it's pretty hard for them to be enclosed in a small space for so long. And most importantly, make sure there is plenty of air in the car by keeping windows down, especially when it's warm! (Don't leave your pet alone in the car for more than a few minutes! It's illegal in many areas, and police can be called, which could ruin wherever you are parking your car!) Unfortunately, many shelters will not accept pets, so it's your car, or camping.

Above all, don't be afraid to ask for help. If a company, place, brand, etc, can't help you, always ask if they know someone who can!

Thrifty Thursday - Get Ready To Plant

This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, I'm talking about getting your garden ready for Spring planting. For most of us, it's still too early to plant in the ground, but there are plenty of things you can do to start getting that dirt and your garden ready to go.

First of all, it's time to take inventory of your gardening supplies. Do you have all of your rakes, shovels, etc in the same place? Make sure that they are in clean working order, and that you haven't misplaced something. By keeping all your supplies together in one place, you stop yourself from buying certain tools because you've misplaced an item! Clean those pots out and keep track of how many you have, so you don't needlessly purchase extra ones.

Now, take a piece of paper and come up with your gardening plan. Are you wanting to can extra tomatoes this year? Is there a new veggie you'd like to try? Maybe you're doubling the size of your garden? Well, all of these things matter when you are planning that garden! You need to make sure that where you are choosing to plant is getting the correct amount of sunlight. Maybe you might need to trim back some branches of a tree so all of the garden is getting sunlight... now is the time to do it! You'll save money by not wasting plants if your garden is created properly.

If you composted over the Winter, it's a good time to get that compost mixed in the soil! This allows it to settle into the ground for when you start putting in those plants over the next couple of months. If you'll be making raised beds, you can start getting the soil ready in them, too.

Will you be planting anything different this year?

Get On The Shelf Spotlight: DiaperPods (& Review!)

Lots of small business companies are competing right now for the chance to "Get on The Shelf" in your local Walmart store! As a consumer, we all can help to make the decision on what products we'll be able to purchase there soon. As you know, I love to support small businesses. Today's feature and review is DiaperPods!

Have you ever been out, had to change a disposable diaper on the fly, and realized you didn't have a bag to dispose the diaper in? Been there, done that, more than once. I felt awful, as it's rude to dispose of a diaper in the trash can like that - the entire bathroom can smell quickly, and that's not fair for the next person coming through the door. DiaperPods are a super neat convenient and sanitary idea. They are diaper, with the disposable receptacle built right into the backside of the diaper!

When I heard this, I almost thought it was too good to be true. If an idea like this was done, wouldn't it make the diaper bulky and uncomfortable for baby to wear? This was one of those "I've got to see it to believe it" items. While the "pod" on the backside is noticeable - DH says that's a good thing, because he can tell immediately which side is the backside without opening it and he puts it on right, lol, men! - it's not overly bulky. Here's what it looks like on the back:

See? Not huge. Pressing from the back, I can feel it through the material, but it shouldn't bug your baby unless they are incredibly sensitive. I really like this idea, and I love knowing that I can easily dispose of the diaper without worry. It also means one less item to haul around in your diaper bag too - which is great especially when you are traveling!

DiaperPods are not yet available in stores, but if you think this is a great idea too, and you'd love to be able to purchase DiaperPods at your local Walmart store, they need your help! Here's how to participate in the contest:

Stacy

Oooohhh... The Cult is going on tour with The Mission AND Killing Joke. Too bad it's only in the UK so far. Boo hoo!

You know what I just realized? This has been the first winter since we've lived here that our pipes haven't frozen at least once. I suppose it has nothing to do with the fact that this year I was ready with plenty of stored water. lol

Last night, I tried to make DH watch the African Queen with me, because he said he had never seen it before. ten minutes in, he was snoring. Men!

I've been trying to hit that Swagbucks March Madness goal every day since it started. I'm going insane with it - even more insane than I was to begin with! On the bright side, it's getting me closer to that big Berkey filter I want.

My allergies are crazy right now.

Confession: I love cold refried beans right out of the can.

I'm going to try to make my own granola bars this week. I'm hoping it will cut down on some of our trash. (wrappers)

Review: Clean Screen

The appliance that gets the biggest workout around here? My laptop! Unfortunately that means it sees the most dirt - my screen can be hideous! I have used disposable cleaning wipes on it in the past, but they can be expensive - and they aren't exactly environmentally friendly, either.

Clean Screen is a two part cleaning system to clean your computer screen and other delicate electronics. It uses a specially formulated reverse osmosis solution, with a suede micro fiber cloth. This state of the art water treatment technology removes molecules of mineral deposits and impurities smaller than the water molecules themselves. The synthetic suede microfiber cloth is lint free and won't scratch delicate screens. All this means a clean screen with no residue and no streaks or smudges!

As soon as the Clean Screen arrived, I immediately cleaned both of our laptop screens - boy, did they need it! It dried very quickly, and they looked great when I was done. DH spotted me doing it and decided to use it to clean our TV screen too... and then started in on our cell phones and iPods! (Who am I to disagree with a man cleaning? LOL) It really got his attention when he read that you can use it to clean fingerprints and other ick off of CDs and DVDs, as well as even his glasses! If you have tinted windows in your vehicle, it's also safe to use on them.

Clean Screen is made here in the USA! Follow Clean Screen's parent company Scott's Liquid Gold online via Twitter or like them on Facebook.

Clean Screen comes in a 6.5 fluid oz ready to use spray with one suede micro fiber cloth for a suggested retail price of $7.99. If you order online via their website, you can purchase it for $4.00!

Now if only I had an easier way to get the fur out of my keyboard that keeps sneaking in there.... sigh!

I received the item mentioned above in order to try it out in my own home and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.

To Those Who Risk Their Lives...

My biggest nightmare, because I know there is an extremely thin chance I could get all our pets out if there was a fire.

Review & Giveaway: Fertibella Conceive Easy TTC Kit

Well, I can honestly say I've spent more time trying to get pregnant than not since I've been married! LOL Unfortunately for me, the biological clock is ticking - I'm going to turn 35 later this year, and we'd better get a move on round two if we don't want our daughter to be any only child!

Fertibella Advanced Conception has a Conceive Easy Trying to Conceive (TTC) Starter Kit. Most women don't realize that there are so many SIMPLE things that can be keeping them from getting pregnant - from a lack of nutrients to cycles simply being out of whack from stress. I wish I had know about this TTC set way back when we first started TTCing!

Fertibella Conceive Easy is a natural aid that boosts the body’s fertility level by stimulating ovulation and effectively overcoming the seven most common causes of infertility. The formula has been clinically tested and those using ConceiveEasy showed an increased pregnancy rate of 33 percent. While many women will see results the first month, it may take several months to get that BFP.

Fertibella is also super easy to use - just take a single tablet daily with meals. It doesn't matter if it's dinner, or breakfast - just take one. (As someone who tried multiple supplements, this one has got to be one of the simpler ones!) Even better? You don't have to start it on day one of your cycle, or anything like that. Just start taking it as soon as the kit arrives.

For me, one week into taking Fertibella Conceive Easy is when disaster struck and I ended up in the hospital (non related!!!), so I had to wait to get the all clear to start trying again. We've got the green light now, so I've started back up on the Fertibella, and I am really hoping for that BFP again! It's back to the endless cycle of peeing on sticks all month long.... us women are crazy, aren't we? lol ;) (I seriously envy those of you who get pregnant at the drop of a hat!) The great part about the Fertibella Trying to Conceive Starter Kit? For a limited time, it comes with everything you need - the tablets plus the ovulation tests and pregnancy tests! You don't have to run out multiple times a month to grab more tests because you couldn't resist checking again that maybe, just maybe, there's a faint line... ;)

Review & Giveaway: Future Oxygen Eco Friendly Bracelets

Back in college and later on, I had a hemp necklace with a skull bead that I wore until it finally fell apart - I think about six years later? I love hemp jewelery because I never have to worry about it harming my skin with a rash, and it's eco-friendly. I've seen some really fun beaded ones, too. For some reason, they just scream "relaxing" to me.

Future Oxygen makes fun American made eco fashion to express your passion. They have some of the usual bead designs you'll see out there, as well as some other neat ones. The handmade braided hemp bracelets are nine inches long with a designed bead - each of those beads are filled with a white pine tree seed! When your bracelet falls apart, or perhaps when a special goal has been accomplished, you can plant this biodegradable bracelet into the ground and see a growing reminder. They are packaged nicely so you can gift them to someone:

Even better? The packaging is compostable too! As you can see in the photo, I received the smiley face Ecowear bracelet. With as stressful as things have been around here lately, looking down at the smiley face on my wrist is going to be a gentle reminder that things will get better. I plan to wear my bracelet until we finally get our piece of land back home in Texas. I'll be planting it then as a reminder that wishes can come true! (And since we'll be living as eco-friendly as we can there, it's simply perfect!)

Now the hemp jewelery can get a little wet, so unlike that necklace I never took off, this one will have to come off before heading into the shower or jumping into the pool. To plant, all you have to do is simply soak the entire piece in water for an entire day, and then plant outside or start in a pot. Don't forget to keep the dirt moist until the tree sprouts!

Maybe you have a different event you'd like to remember - perhaps the passing of a loved pet (there's a pawprint!) or pink ribbon to celebrate beating cancer. There are a lot of different beads to choose from, and each adjustable sized bracelet retails for $10.00. If you sign up for their newsletter, you'll receive free shipping on your first order! Or if you're a repeat customer, they have an Earth Day sale going on - spend $20, and you'll receive free shipping too!

Future Oxygen gives back, too. For every piece of jewelry sold on their website, Future Oxygen will donate a bracelet to a child in need through Ele's Place or Operation Military Kids.

Win it! Thanks to Future Oxygen, one lucky winner will receive a beaded hemp bracelet too! To enter, visit their website and tell us your favorite bead. Easy peasy!

Review & Giveaway: PottyCover

The biggest nightmare while potty training? It's been public restrooms. Some toilets are too big, some have scary automatic flushing, and let's not get started on how disgusting some of these bathrooms have been. Ick!

I'm not afraid to haul a potty seat ring with us in our truck, but it's not really practical to take it in with us everywhere. (I've actually contemplated just tossing an entire potty chair into the back of the truck on more than one occasion! lol) Bathrooms that have at least those potty seat paper covers have been few and far between. PottyCover is coming to our rescue!

PottyCover provides a waterproof barrier between the toilet and your child. Unlike the paper covers that just cover the toilet seat, PottyCover has an oversized design that covers to top, the sides, AND the front. (Take that, bathroom germs!) The top part has a fun polka dot design that's a soft non-woven fabric, while the bottom holds the layer of plastic. It doesn't use any adhesive or anything like that, so you can keep your hands away from the toilet as much as possible.

My daughter thinks these are the greatest - especially those polka dots that look like a Twister mat to her. lol I love it because no parts of her body end up touching the toilet. This is one of those genius ideas that I am so glad someone created!

Each PottyCover comes individually wrapped in a small plastic bag that easily fits into your purse, or diaper bag. The main bag is resealable, so I just kept the bag in the glove compartment, and added a PottyCover into my purse as needed. There's nothing that says adults without kids couldn't use these either!

Now as these are plastic, they are not flushable, so you'll have to toss them into a trash can. Granted, they aren't the most environmentally friendly option out there either, but as nasty as some bathrooms are - it's better than the kiddo having an accident!

You can purchase PottyCover online via sites like Amazon, as well as stores like Buy Buy Baby and select Bed, Bath, and Beyond. A six pack of PottyCovers retail for $5.99.

Win it! Want to win a package of PottyCovers just in time for Summer to be here? Kids - and you - can avoid the yucky germs at the park, camping, or gas stations while traveling to grandma's... To enter, tell us if you've ever complained to a store or restaurant about the condition of their bathroom. (I have!)

Review & Giveaway: Silk Fruit&Protein

The grocery store can be a minefield of what's healthy and what's not - especially when it comes to drinks. Water is great, but hey, it can get boring if that's all you drink. If you're on the hunt for a healthier drink that tastes good, you are going to love Silk's latest offering - Silk Fruit&Protein!

Silk Fruit&Protein has the great taste of fruit juice plus the nourishing power of protein - almost like a smoothie without all the extra work of blending different fruits first thing in the morning. It helps make for a yummy start to your day, or a quick pick me up any time of the day. Silk Fruit&Protein has plenty of calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin C, so you're not drinking wasted calories, like so many other drinks available.

Silk Fruit&Protein comes in Mixed Berry, Strawberry Banana, and Mango Peach, and you can purchase it in quart size, as well as half gallon size (which is currently only available at WalMart locations). I was sent several coupons to try the new Silk Fruit&Protein, so we headed out to find it. Apparently, both Mixed Berry and Strawberry Banana are super popular, because after two trips to the store, the only variety that has been in stock has been Mango Peach! lol I'm thinking other folks don't know what they are missing, because the Mango Peach is REALLY good! It's sweet, but not too sweet, and it really is the perfect start to our day. Even DH, who's not that fond of peaches, really enjoyed drinking it. Here's hoping next time we head to the store, I can find the Mixed Berry, because I am really wanting to try it!

If you'd like to try Silk Fruit&Protein, there's a printable coupon available on the Silk website that will save you $1.00 off your next purchase of any quart or half gallon. If you absolutely hate it, they have a money back guarantee on Silk Fruit&Protein, so you have nothing to loose to try it!

Win it! Even better, you can enter to win it! One lucky reader will win three FREE product coupons for Silk Fruit&Protein, as well as some $1.00 off coupons so you don't have to use your printer ink! To enter, tell us which of the three flavors you look forward to trying the most.

Review: Liquid Blue Biker T-Shirts

DH has quite the collection of t-shirts - several hundred (no, I'm not joking) - and even those that have seen better days, he refuses to part with. I even offered to make pillows or a blanket out of some of the death metal band t-shirts that his mom had ruined before we were married, but no dice. He refuses to wear anything else but t-shirts when he's off work, except for the very rare occasions where he'll wear a button up shirt. You'd think he'd stop looking for t-shirts when we're out at this point. lol At least he lets me wear some of them when I want to! ;)

If you're into skulls and dragons like we are, you are going to love Liquid Blue's selection of great biker t-shirts. They have some seriously awesome ones, and I was excited when we got the chance to review their "Live Free Or Die" design with an American flag draped skull.

The design is on the back of the t-shirt, which is a pleasant change from a lot of t-shirts you see. It's a nice weight cotton, and the design on the black t-shirt is done really well. As a heads up, the material doesn't have a ton of give, so if you're bordering between sizes, you might want to go up a size. DH is wearing the XL, and he could almost use the XXL. Ladies, if you love this design too, it's also available in tank tops and even long sleeve shirts, with fits for both men and women. And if you'd prefer the t-shirt in white, navy, or even pink -- yep, they can create it in those too.

The "Live Free Or Die" men's t-shirt from Liquid Blue retails for $23, and you can purchase it online via their website.

I received the item shown above in order to share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.

DVD Review: Victorious: The Complete Second Season

My family and I recently received a copy of the new DVD, Victorious: The Complete Second Season, to review.

The second season of the popular tween show Victorious follows Tori Vega and her classmates at Hollywood Arts High School, from being stuck to re-auditioning for heir spots thanks to a new principal, to a big accident on the opening night of Tori's directional debut. There's even a giant cupcake float for the "Parade, Parade", so there's plenty of music and of course, drama to be seen this season! Here's the complete episode list: "Beck Falls For Tori", "Helen Back Again", "Locked Up - Parts 1 & 2", "Tori Gets Stuck", "Tori Tortures Teacher", "Jade Gets Crushed", "Who Did It To Trina?", "Beggin' On Your Knees", "Ice Cream For Ke$ha", "Prom Wrecker", "Terror On Cupcake Street", and "Blooptorious" - which is full of bloopers and outtakes from the season.

There are also some special features included in the two disc set: "Seven Secrets With Victoria Justice", the actress who plays Tori, and a behind the scenes look at the "Locked Up" episodes.

As a heads up, this DVD set is ONLY available at Target stores. It also comes with a peel off coupon for $1.00 off the Nickelodeon toys Floam or GAK with the purchase of this DVD. If you're unfamiliar with Victorious, and your kids like iCarly or Glee, they'll probably enjoy this one too - if they haven't already discovered it! It's best for the ages 9 and up crowd, though as a parent, you may want to decide for yourself.

Victorious: The Complete Second Season was released this past Sunday, March 18th, 2012. Full screen format, it is not rated, and has a total running time of 312 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $19.99, and for this one, remember you'll have to head over to Target in order to buy it.

I received a copy of this DVD in order to view it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.

Book Review: The Kid Dictionary By Eric Ruhalter

I recently received a copy of the new book The Kid Dictionary: Hilarious Words To Describe The Indescribable Things Kids Do by Eric Ruhalter to review.

Kids say and do the weirdest things. There are days when I am at a loss for words with some of the stunts my daughter pulls, and other days where I am trying my best not to laugh so I don't egg her on. She has no fear, and no filter either, oy. I think this is why I got the biggest kick out of The Kid Dictionary. There are so many words that just sum up my days - from "Rantonese" - the language consisting of the huffing, harrumphing, and muttering of angry child who just got punished (I swear, she sounds like Muttley from the old Hanna Barbara cartoon!) to "Impolert" - A child's indiscreet call of attention to a stranger's physical abnormality. Heck, sometimes it even applies to my DH - "Pastovers" - Uneaten food items that come home in the lunch box. LOL!

Seriously, if you need a book to give you the giggles right now, The Kid Dictionary is sure to bring a smile to any parent's face. This book is written for all the other "Momikazes" out there - you know, those of you who are also having your kids push you to the brink of insanity! ;)

The Kid Dictionary: Hilarious Words To Describe The Indescribable Things Kids Do by Eric Ruhalter is a softcover parenting humor book published by Source Books. It is 224 pages long. The suggested cover price is $9.99, and you can purchase it at your favorite local bookstore or online via sites like Amazon. It is also available as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Review: Slobproof! Paint Pen

I love color on my walls. The only problem with bright colors? Life. Chairs scrape against the walls, the kiddo bumps toys into it, cats like to stretch out against it... you get the picture. Unfortunately, small scratches in bright paint can really stand out. If you have a lot of company coming over - or you are trying to sell your house - you want your home to look as perfect as possible with as little work as possible. Who wants to repaint an entire wall just because of a handful of marks?

If you love color on your walls too, the Slobproof! Paint Pen is the answer to your scratched nightmares! It's quick and easy to use, and doesn't involve spending an entire afternoon moving furniture around to repaint an entire wall.

Simply fill the body of the pen with paint (hopefully, you had a little extra left over!) using an old wooden spoon - or if you have one around, a syringe with a wide tip works even better. Wipe off any paint that got on the outside of the pen, then snap on the brush top and twist. Then simply apply over any scratches you find on your walls. When you're finished, rinse off the tip and replace the cap. You can store it in a drawer (I recommend placing it in a Ziploc baggie first, just in case it starts to leak if the cap gets dislodged) and use it again as scratches appear. Here's a video that shows more of how to use the Slobproof! Paint Pen:

Direct Link for the Feedreaders

Pretty neat idea, right? Of course, paint on the wall can fade with time, so it might not be perfect - but it definitely shouldn't draw as much attention as a bright white streak on a red wall would!

The Slobproof! Paint Pen is sold in sets of two, and retails for $19.99. You can purchase it online via the Slobproof! website.

I received the product mentioned above in order to try it out in my own home. All opinions are my own, and your experiences with the product may differ from mine.

Free Copies At Office Depot

Just in time for those who are waiting until the last minute to finish their taxes, Office Depot is providing their customers with 25 free black and white single side copies, and up to five pounds of shredding at all retail locations nationwide from now until April 16th, 2012.

It's a great time to do some spring cleaning on your documents! Items such as tax paperwork you should keep for seven years, while bank statements and bills you only need to keep for one year. Think of the old things as not only clutter, but a fire hazard! Having your documents up to date will help you for any emergency, quickly. Take advantage of these free copies to make extra copies of important documents that you can store a copy of in deposit boxes, or with family out of state.

I'm kind of sad our local Office Depot closed, because with all this medical paperwork I've been working on, those free copies would have come in handy!

Kona's Story: Can You Help?

This story made it's way into my inbox, and I don't even know where to start. Actually, I do - but since it's filled with seriously angry words and bad thoughts, I'll skip that part. Kona, a Golden Retriever, was beaten with a hatchet by a neighbor who lured him into his yard. Animal lovers, the video in the link is really sad, so be warned.

Luckily for Kona, he is still alive and is walking again. As you can guess, the bills are mounting. If you are able to make a donation, here is the address:

Sumner Vet Hospital
16024 60th St E
Sumner, WA 98390

1-253-863-2258

It angers me that this evil man will probably get nothing more than a fine and a day or two in jail at the most. Knowing that animal abusers usually do much, much worse, it's time to start making the penalty stiffer.

What has our world come to? So few of us value life and the Earth we live in. It's no wonder it is falling apart.

Book Review: How To Con Your Kid By David Borgenicht and James Grace

I recently received a copy of the new book, How To Con Your Kid: Simple Scams For Mealtime, Bedtime, Bathtime - Anytime! by David Borgenicht and James Grace, to review.

Listed as "the book your children don't want you to read", How To Con Your Kid is a revised and updated version, with tips and techniques to bribe and scam your child into doing what you want them to.

Admit it... we all do it. From buying washable crayons and paint to get our kids to take a bath - they think they are having fun *wink wink* to bribing them with an ice cream after church or a doctor's visit.... we do it daily. Sometimes hourly. Raising kids - especially toddlers - is psychological warfare, folks. (Five minutes ago: help mommy clean up the living room so daddy doesn't think we didn't do anything today! Or this morning: We have to brush your hair so it will grow like Rapunzel's! And before lunch: Netflix is "down" (cough, cough) so let's read a book instead!)

Even though I've learned to bribe and yes - scam - the way through the day, I found How To Con Your Kid full of great ideas - from games to play to ways to handle delicate situations like sharing and behaving in public. It's a must read for parents of toddlers to teens, and it's a quick read, too.

How To Con Your Kid: Simple Scams For Mealtime, Bedtime, Bathtime - Anytime! by David Borgenicht and James Grace is a hardcover book published by Quirk Books. It is 160 pages long. The suggested cover price is $14.95, but Amazon has it available for $11.21 as of this posting. It is also available as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Book Review: Stuff Every Mom Should Know By Heather Gibbs Flett And Whitney Moss

I recently received a copy of the new book Stuff Every Mom Should Know by Heather Gibbs Flett and Whitney Moss to review.

Raise your hand if you thought - even just once - that your child should have come with a manual. Not being particularly kid friendly before having my daughter, I have been lost one too many times. Confession: I had never even changed a poopy diaper before. Can you say Gag Me? Add in to the fact that we were in a state far, far away from family, where I hardly knew anyone - this has been an interesting ride, to say the least.

Stuff Every Mom Should Know is a mini gift book that shares important information while reminding you to take a breath or two. From how to meet other moms, to five fun things to do with baby, to ridding a bedroom of monsters (actually, that one I've had no problem with - sometimes it pays to be a little quirky. lol) to fifteen birthday survival tips, Stuff Every Mom Should Know gives you easy ideas and instructions while being easy to toss into a diaper bag or keep in your purse for pulling out at a difficult moment (making a long wait fun). It even goes up to the teenage years!

If you are looking for a small gift for Mother's Day or a shower gift for the first time moms, Stuff Every Mom Should Know is a fun little idea. No, it's not a manual for everything that happens, of course, but it can give you a little impromptu advice when friends or family are not around.

Stuff Every Mom Should Know by Heather Gibbs Flett and Whitney Moss is a hardcover gift book published by Quirk and will be released on March 27th, 2012. It is 144 pages long. The suggested cover price is $9.95, and you can purchase a copy at your favorite local bookstore or online via sites like Amazon.com. It is also available as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

National Poison Prevention Week

March 18th through 24th is National Poison Prevention Week, established by the U.S. Congress in 1961 to promote poison prevention.

When I was a little girl, I remember my parents putting this awful green stickers with a YUK face on just about everything dangerous. My mom says she had a hard time keeping me out of things - partially because of my love of sleeping in dark places, like cabinets. (I still can't sleep if there's light, lol) See? I said I was a handful! lol I wish I could find those stickers these days - although using natural cleaners isn't quite as dangerous as the chemical laden junk back then, I still worry. There are moments I feel like my head has to be on a swivel to keep my daughter - and my pets - out of dangerous things. We all know it can just take one second for the worst to happen.

For a poison emergency in the U.S., call 1-800-222-1222 IMMEDIATELY. Even if you're not 100% sure your child swallowed that cleaner, every second counts! This will get you fast, free and expert help or even just information 24/7 for emergencies. You can even just call them with your questions about poison.

There is also a number to call for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year: (888) 426-4435. As a heads up, this service is not always free, they may charge you $65 for a consultation fee. Find the number of your 24 hour animal emergency service and keep this number by it's side. The ASPCA has a great article with what to do if your pet poisoned - take a moment and read through it. It even has a list for items to put in an emergency first aid kit for your pet(s).

While being prepared for an emergency like poisoning won't necessarily prevent it from happening in the first place - Murphy's Law - it can still help you be ready to spring into action. Program the emergency numbers I've shared with you into every cell phone you have, as well as writing it down next to any land line phones you may have. Those few minutes you save by doing that could mean the difference between life and death.

Thanks to California Poison Control for letting me know that this week is National Poison Prevention Week. Check out their website for more information and advice, even if you don't live in California.

DVD Review: Adventures in Lalaloopsy Land: The Search For The Pillow

My family and I recently received a copy of the new animated DVD, Adventures in Lalaloopsy Land: The Search For The Pillow, to review.

Adventures in Lalaloopsy Land: The Search For The Pillow is the first ever Lalaoopsy movie, and it follows little ragdolls who came to life when their last stitch was done, with names like Jewel Sparkles, Bea Spells-A-Lot, Crumbs Sugar Cookie, Spot Splatter Splash, and Rosie Bumps 'N Bruises. Each little ragdoll has her own pet. The Sew Magical! Sew Cute! dolls have been a hot commodity over the last few months at toy stores for girls 4-7, and it's easy to see why - even I think they are adorable cuteness! It's the kind of toy/movie that makes me thrilled to have a girl! ;)

In The Search For The Pillow, the dolls are searching for a missing friend called Pillow Featherbead. They must find her and bring her home before Peanut Big Top reveals an amazing surprise. The clock is tickin'! Here's a clip from the movie:

Direct Link for the feedreaders

The DVD also contains some special features, including five bonus Lalaloopsy mini episdoes: "Jewel Sparkles' Unbirthday Party", "Mittens Fluff 'N Stff Wants A Snow Day", "Peanut Big Top Learns To Ride The Unicycle", "Pillow Featherbead Up All Night", and "Bea And The Pet Talent Show". It also contains the Lalaloopsy sing-along song.

Adventures in Lalaloopsy Land: The Search For The Pillow will be released on DVD tomorrow, March 20th, 2012. Not rated, it is safe all ages, and is widescreen format. The total running time is 70 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $16.98, but Amazon has it available on pre-order for $10.99 as of this posting.

I received a copy of this DVD and a toy in order to share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.

Menu Planning Monday - 3/19 - 3/25

I never made it back out to the grocery store, so my fridge is starting to look like a desolate wasteland with hardly any fruits or veggies! Eek!

On our lunch menu this week is unfortunately, canned soups. I say unfortunately, because I prefer my homemade, but I need to cycle out our emergency food storage, so DH is stuck, haha. I haven't replaced those with new ones yet, so I am going to have to do that, stat. Like I said, I prefer my own, but canned soups are very easy to heat up when we have no power in an emergency, so I always keep about a dozen or so on hand. (Along with a couple of those Spaghetti-Os to perk things up for the kiddo)

I'm still leaning a lot on the slow cooker this week. (It helps that its been cold and dreary!)

Monday: BBQ chicken Cornbread Pizza

Tuesday: Provencal Tomato Rice Soup

Wednesday: Slow Cooker Baked Beans Stew, cornbread

Thursday: Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup, rolls

Friday: Fish Tacos

Saturday: Mexican Bake

Sunday: Slow cooker roast chicken, veggies, rolls

Check out Organizing Junkie for other great Menu Plans!

Review: New Yoplait Greek Coconut & Cherry Pomegranate!

I am SO ready for Spring and warmer weather - we had snow coming down yesterday morning! I want to be hanging out in the yard, drinking a fruity drink, not hiding on the covers trying to stay warm! A recent survey conducted by Yoplait Greek found that during the peak winter months the “winter blues” are hitting people hard – and by March, they’re ready more than ever for spring/summer to come, so apparently, I am not the only one!

Speaking of Yoplait Greek, they recently introduced two new flavors: Coconut and Cherry Pomegranate, both available in four count multipacks. Each 4 oz cup has 8 grams of protein and is only 110 calories. These new tropical flavors can help you feel a little bit like you're on a tropical beach. (Oh, don't I wish right now!)

I was lucky enough to get to try both new flavors. If you like smoothies, and add yogurt to them, the coconut is actually perfect to use! The Cherry Pomegranate has the perfect sweetness to it, and quickly became my favorite flavor with the extra fruit on the bottom. (Look out, blueberry!) It was a yummy way to start my day, as I love to have yogurt and a piece of fruit for my breakfasts.

A four pack of Yoplait Greek retails for about $2.99 at your favorite grocery store, but be on the lookout for sales, as you can often find them for as low as $2.00 a package. You can also purchase Yoplait Greek in single cups, but flavors available may vary. On top of the new flavors Coconut and Cherry Pomegranate, Yoplait Greek is also available in Blueberry, Strawberry, Key Lime, Peach, and Honey Vanilla.

I received samples of the product mentioned above in order to try it out and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own. The information about the survey came from Yoplait Greek.

Book Review: Woodrose Mountain By RaeAnne Thayne

I recently received an advance readers copy of the new book Woodrose Mountain by RaeAnne Thayne to review.

Evie Blanchard left Los Angeles after a rough year as an occupational therapist. She moves to Hope's Crossing for a fresh start, and begins working in a bead store, gets a rescue dog named Jacques, and tries to put the sadness behind her. But Brodie, the son of the woman she had befriended, has a request for her - to please help his daughter Taryn recover from an accident. But Evie, who already isn't fond of Brodie, doesn't feel up to helping Taryn, as she is still reeling from her past. Brodie also isn't fond of Evie, but he will do anything for his little girl - offering more money for her to take the job, even ask Evie to move in with them. Will Evie stay to help? And will something begin between Evie and Brodie?

If some of the characters seem familiar to you, it's the follow up to Blackberry Summer. I felt for Taryn in this book - to be a teenager where everything is supposed to be perfect and then it's suddenly yanked from you. I actually found myself wanting to hear the entire story more from Taryn's side. As the back story for why Evie didn't want to be Taryn's OT came out, I felt sad for her too. The book is supposed to be a romance, but yet there's elements of sadness everywhere. The town of Hope's Crossing does live up to it's name in this story - there is hope everywhere, too. I enjoyed this story, and if you are looking for a good book to read right now, add this one to your list.

Woodrose Mountain by RaeAnne Thayne is a mass market paperback book published by HQN Books, and will be released on March 27th, 2012. It is 352 pages long. The suggested cover price is $7.99, and Amazon has it available on pre-order right now. It will also be available as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Review & Giveaway: SpermCheck Fertility

When you're trying to conceive a baby, the first month or two is fun. ;) Once you cross the six month mark... or the year mark... it's not quite so much fun. I peed on more sticks than I would have cared to, downed more supplements and pills than I would if I was 90, got up an extremely early hour to temp... I think I tried everything. Literally, everything. (Even being half upside down once, just in case it might help! LOL!) I kept wondering what on earth was wrong with me that we couldn't get pregnant. Why was every one else getting their BFP (big fat positive) but me?

If you're starting to TTC (try to conceive), even if you've previously had a successful pregnancy (congratulations, by the way!), the best piece of advice I can give you is not to wait before seeking help, even if you're in your early 20's. Go in for that wellness visit and discuss your plans with your doctor, and make sure everything is looking alright "down there". The second piece of advice is to have your husband/significant other get his swimmers checked. Guys will say this is more embarrassing than anything they will ever do - and I get that - but we're the ones running in circles to get pregnant. (See above!) Now the embarrassing part can be cut down quite a bit, thanks to a new home test called SpermCheck Fertility. It allows guys to test their swimmers in the comfort of their own home, which should help cut down on any whining and complaints from them. ;)

The SpermCheck Fertility test has everything you need to find out if a man has a normal or low sperm count, and it's much the same as the one they would take at a doctor's office. Make sure the directions are followed exactly though, so you get an accurate result. If you receive a good result, you know that the swimmers are present. (it doesn't mean that they are great swimmers though, so if a few months go by without the positive pregnancy test, he'll still have to have a doctor run their test) If your result shows low - a single line, much like a pregnancy test - you may want to take a second test, just to be on the sure side that the test was done properly. If the second test comes out low again, make an appointment right away. Regardless of the results, it can help save you precious time on your TTC journey.

The SpermCheck Fertility test is easy to use, and you can make a fun night of it - especially if you don't already have kids! ;) (Now would be an excellent time to break out any nurse costumes, ladies! *Wink*) The hardest part is waiting the ten minutes for the results! You can purchase it at drugstores, as well as ordering online from sites like Amazon or drugstore.com to cut down on any embarrassment you or your man might have. It retails for $39.99. If you don't mind, you can also "like" SpermCheck over on Facebook for news and information.

Win it! Alright folks, I know this might be one of the more off the wall items I have ever given away on here, but I know how much money goes into trying to get pregnant (you pee on a lot of sticks! LOL) not to mention how stressful it is. I'm making this easy to enter - just leave me a comment about how your week has gone. If you'd like to share how long you've been TTC'ing, or anything about your journey, feel free to!

As always, you can receive extra entries for:

-Subscribing to my feed OR following my blog
-Blogging about this giveaway with a link back
-Tweeting about this giveaway 1X (leave the link in your comment below or @psychotichouse)
Win a SpermCheck Fertility test! http://bit.ly/FQbVCU ends 3/31 @psychotichouse

That's four (4) possible entries! Giveaway ends March 31st at 11:59 PM PST, and please leave your email address in your entry or have it available in your profile. US only, sorry :( Good luck everyone!! :)

I received a sample of the product mentioned in order to try it out and share my thoughts on it. (Yes, I made my DH do it!) All opinions are my own, but I'm not a doctor, only someone who has done her fair share of TTCing!

Book Review: Diamond Life: A Novel By Aliya S. King

I recently received a copy of the book Diamond Life: A Novel by Aliya S. King to review.

Alex Maxwell’s career as a journalist and celebrity ghost writer is taking off, even though she has the embarrassing memoir of Cleo Wright, a hip-hop groupie, to her name. Her husband Birdie is doing even better - his debut went multi-platinum, and his world tour is selling out. All her dreams are coming true - from the huge house to expensive jewelry to even having a reality show follows them around. But can Birdie resist the groupies? Z, a rapper, seems to have his career on the way out. He's getting older, and there are new games in town. Trying to repair his marriage, he has little time for his son Zander, who has some serious personal and career issues of his own - a domestic violence scandal. Then there's Jake, a record label artist, who's wife Kipenzi Hill recently died. He tries to cope by drowning himself in women and alcohol, something we all know doesn't work. He meets Lily, a waitress who wants nothing to do with the glitzy life. Will fame and fortune be the end of the road for all?

If you love juicy gossip about musicians, dream of living the high life, and love hip-hop music - this book is for you. It's actually the follow up to another book from the author, called Platinum. You don't have to read that one first, but you might as well. The book does jump from character to character, so if you have trouble following books like that, keep this in mind. Even though this really isn't my usual kind of story, it was written really well, with lots of little details and it was almost like watching a movie - in fact, they probably should make these two stories into either a TV or a movie.

The book also comes with a reading group guide at the end of the book, with discussion questions, as well as an interview with the author.

Diamond Life: A Novel by Aliya S. King is a paperback fiction book published by Touchstone. It is 416 pages long. The suggested cover price is $14.99, but Amazon has it available for $10.19 as of this posting. It is also available as an e-book for the Kindle and other e-readers.

I received a copy of this book in order to read it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own, and not that of the author(s) or publisher.

Let's Save Some Money With iTracker

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of iTrackr. All opinions are 100% mine.

Just because I am a stay at home mom, doesn't mean I'm not busy. Granted, thanks to my surgery, things have been a lot slower around here than I would have liked, but I know as I heal, things will start to pick up again. I love the idea of the deal sites that have been popping up all over the internet, and I've managed to score a few great deals, from a nearly free dinner out for my DH and I for our anniversary, to discounts on stuff I had to buy any ways - like clothes for my daughter. (Can't exactly buy undies from the thrift store!) But a lot of the deals aren't very relevant for my family - I'm not really interested in dry cleaning discounts, or getting a facial - so I was pleased to learn about a new site, iTrackr.com.

iTrackr is a a revolutionary way for busy women like myself to save money. Unlike others sites, YOU can request a specific and personalized deal directly via any business with a iTrackr.com profile also located within a 25 mile radius of your home address! I can try to make a "deal" with grocery stores like Albertsons:

Or ask for a discount on my next car repair. (Knock on wood) Next time my inlaws visit, I can try to make a deal with one of the local hotels to keep my home a little more stress free. (whew!) To make the deal, simply look up the business name (or you can choose a category, if you're browsing), and click on "Make a Deal". Then a box will pop up with different deals you can choose from - up to 70%! Choose which deal suits your need most, and it will be submitted to the business. The company can choose whether to accept your deal, or decline it. If you're declined, you can always try again with a different offer, or if you're not on a time constraint, try again on another day - the business might just be overwhelmed with offers at that moment. (If you do have an accepted offer, be sure to thank the company when you go in to use your discount coupon!)

iTrackr.com is easy to sign up for, and you can even use your Facebook account to do so.

Review: Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free

Two of our four cats love eating raw meat. Alas, the other two refuse to even eat canned food, so there is always dry food available for the cats to eat. While I would rather feed them home cooked/prepared food like I do with the dogs, I go with the flow - can't have starving cats, now can I? ;) The only problem is that Magick, my 22 pound behemoth, has an incredibly sensitive stomach. 90% of dry kibble makes him sick. I would rather he doesn't eat dry kibble at all, but since it's out there he always seems to snack on it.

Science Diet recently released a new line of dry cat food called Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free. It has no corn, wheat, soy, dairy, or artificial colors or flavors. It also doesn't contain beef, which can be a trigger for some cat's allergies and food sensitivities. The first ingredient in the Chicken and Potato Dinner is chicken. It's also made with fruits and vegetables like peas, carrots, and cranberries. As a BzzAgent, I had the chance to try out this new cat food. (Or rather, my cats did!)

Now I'll freely admit I've never been overly fond of the Science Diet brand. I've always felt veterinarians pushed the brand when there were other better quality - holistic - kibble options out there. But I'm happy to see this new line of Science Diet isn't filled with cheap fillers and drowning in food coloring. Sure, I'd rather it be organic chicken, with only ingredients that are food we'd eat, but hey, it's a step in the right direction.

My cats immediately started inhaling it, so it must have tasted good to them. In fact, the bowls always seem to be empty! I haven't seen Magick get sick off of it yet, so that's a good sign. I'm really hoping it stays that way, because kitty puke is no fun to clean up!

Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free is available in Kitten, Adult (ages 1-6), and Mature Adult varieties. A two pound bag retails for about $13.99, while a 10.5 lb bag retails for $36.99. For those who only purchase cat food at the grocery store, I know this can seem high, but the better quality food you feed your cat(s), the better their health is - and the less smelly the litter box is! You can purchase it at independent pet specialty stores, as well as stores like Petco and Petsmart (two stores that know my crew well! lol) Bonus: It comes with a money back guarantee. If your cat(s) hate the taste, simply return the unused portion back to the store you purchased it from for a full refund! (Keep your receipt handy)

As a BzzAgent, I received the product mentioned above in order to share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
