Review: Boiron Oscillococcinum

Good grief, it certainly seems like the flu is spreading like crazy every where this winter, doesn't it? I keep reading about cities saying they are in a state of emergency at the hospitals because of some many sick people coming in. Besides the very obvious step of making sure you are washing your hands as often as possible, make sure you are taking a good multi-vitamin, and eating healthy. Lots of fruits and veggies can help your immune system perform when it's stressed out from fighting germs!

If you're starting to feel the first signs of the flu - like fatigue, body aches, and fever, there's a homeopathic medicine you can try called Boiron Oscillococcinum. It helps to reduce the duration and severity of flu symptoms, with no side effects and no drug interactions. Instead, it works naturally with your body, and it's non drowsy, so you can continue doing what you're doing. (As the wife of a health care provider though, I'd like to remind you that if you're starting to feel ill, and you can stay home, please do so! This will help stop the flu from spreading!)

I first came into contact with Oscillococcinum just before ZomBCon 2011. DH was starting to feel something coming on, and we weren't about to cancel! After seeing a few other bloggers' reviews, I ended up purchasing Oscillococcinum on the way to the convention. Oscillococcinum comes in a box containing six doses, that are quick dissolving pellets inside a little vial. You don't even need water to take them, making it super easy to have on hand in your purse or bag when traveling, or in your desk at the office. DH felt a difference fairly quickly - and within 24 hours seemed to be feeling a LOT better. I'm pretty sure if we hadn't purchased the Oscillococcinum, DH would have had to bail on attending ZomBCon - and he would have been crushed! lol

I've kept Oscillococcinum on hand since then, as an essential part of my medicine cabinet, and when I started to feel ill just before New Year's, I made sure to start taking Oscillococcinum. While I ended up having bronchitis and not the flu, I still think it helped a little with my aches and pains from it.

If you are preparing your medicine cabinet or emergency medical supplies, I highly recommend keeping a box or two on hand.

Boiron Oscillococcinum is safe for ages 2 and up. You can purchase it at your favorite big box store or drug store, with a suggested retail price of $10.99.

I received a sample of this product in order to tell my thoughts on it thanks to Naturally Savvy. All opinions are my own. If you are starting to feel like you are getting the flu, be sure to talk to your doctor or healthcare provider.

This is a must-have in the medicine kit in this kind of weather we have right now. I wonder if this can be used by pregnant women also?

Sarah, I believe it can! You may want to ask your doctor just in case though.
