Tip: Cleaning Silk Plants

My house doesn't lend itself to having live plants all over the place. The natural lighting isn't the greatest, and I have cats who think it's fun to play in potted dirt. I gave up! Sometimes it's nice to have pretty silk floral plants to brighten up a room, but they are dust catchers - and that's bad for folks like me with asthma and allergies. Dusting them can be a real nightmare, as it seems you spread the dust all over the area you just tried to clean!

Here's a tip I found to help you dust those silk plants: Mix a 50/50 solution of water and rubbing alcohol and pour into a spray bottle. Spray this mixture on your silk plants, and the dust should run off in the water spray. You'll want to do this over the sink if you can! And do be sure to test it in a hidden space on the plant to check for color fastness before you go hog wild spraying your plant! ;)

That's a great tip, thanks! We also have people with allergies in our home, so now I know how to clean our silk flowers, thanks to you.
