New Griddle Melts At IHOP (Review!) #GriddleMelts

Who's in the mood for a yummy breakfast? IHOP has just added to their menu with the brand new Griddle Melts.

The new Griddle Melts are available in Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese, Western, and Ham & Egg Melt. The Ham & Egg Melt has sliced ham and melted Swiss and American cheeses over a fluffy egg omelet. The Western Melt has smoked ham and sautéed peppers and onions in a classic omelet, topped with sliced ham, melted American cheese. The Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese comes with sautéed spinach in a fluffy egg omelet topped with roasted red peppers, onions, melted Provolone, Parmesan and Pepper Jack cheeses. All three are served on grilled artisan sourdough bread, and come with your choice of hash browns, French fries or seasonal fruit. They are also available in a half size sandwich as well as a full size sandwich to cover all appetites. ;)

I was invited to try out the new Griddle Melts at our local IHOP over in Bremerton. I had never been to an IHOP before, although DH swears he has - not with me, that's for sure! Upon entering, I noticed this location was nicely updated - everything inside looked brand new. In fact our server told us they had just gotten a brand new computer system that they were learning to use! I also noticed the posters on the wall for the new Griddle Melts - and boy did they look good. (Note to self: time to get a sourdough starter going again!)

We went for an early dinner/late lunch, and we had a pleasant surprise - kids eat free from 4 - 10 PM right now! Color this momma happy. ;) DH knew he wanted to try the Western Griddle Melt and chose to have fries with it, but I had pancakes on the brain and had a hard time deciding what I wanted. I ended up choosing the Pick-A-Pancake and took the strawberry pancakes.

I think all our eyes grew huge when our food quickly arrived and we had a look at the Western Griddle Melt - it's HUGE! The sandwich was about twice the size we expected it to be:

And my pancakes:

The sourdough bread was crispy, and the sandwich was definitely well filled. If you are super hungry, these new Griddle Melts are the dish to order! DH was really pleased with his - he even had a hard time finishing it! - and said it was something he would love to have again. For just a little over $25 for our total bill out (including drinks) it was a nice meal out!

While I was finishing my meal, I watched the interaction of our server with other customers. I noticed she knew her regulars - where they liked to sit, what they liked to order, and asked how things were going that week with their families. You don't see a lot of that these days, and it was obvious she loved her job. Of course I can't speak for every location being as wonderful as the one we visited, but IHOP you have a gem in Yvonne!

Got a craving for the new Griddle Melts or pancakes at your local IHOP yet? ;) Head on over and try them - I'd love to know what you thought of them.

I received a gift card to try out the product mentioned above. All opinions are my own.
