Originally a YouTube sensation and now a smash Cartoon Network show, you'll find Orange and his pals Pear, Passion Fruit, Marshmallow, and their wacky human handler Nerville "annoying" the living daylights out of other fruits, veggies, inanimate objects, and oh yeah, parents too. ;)
This DVD follows the ahem, produce department in your house as they navigate the time-space continuum in their magical fruit cart and it has it's share of special guest voice stars. From the Prehistoric Era to the Colonial Times, the random adventures are on and the gang must squeeze their way out. It contains 10 episodes: "Marshmalia", "Captain Blood Orange", "Sir Juice-A-Lot", "Veggie Zombies", "Founding Fruits", "Fruit Vengers", "Dr. Strange Plum", "Bad News Pears", "Fruit Plane", and "The Lords of Fruitbush".
Thankfully, there are no special features on this one.
While I'll give the honorary zombie episode title nod, this show takes the word "annoying" to a whole new level in my home. I've never been so glad to screen a DVD without my daughter by my side as I was with this one. Translation: The annoying orange does not get my parenting seal of approval. Heck, it doesn't even get DH's still stuck in his teenage years seal of approval, and that's the man who normally thinks crude humor is funny. Ouch. I'm not sure how it got the Dove Foundation family approved symbol on it at all, but share this one with your kids at your own risk of future obnoxious jokes and behavior. (Granted the only violence is veggies and fruits getting sliced by a knife)
The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange Volume 1: Escape From The Kitchen will be available on DVD this coming Tuesday, March 12th, 2012. Widescreen format, it is not rated (see my warning above!). The total running time is 113 minutes long. The suggested retail price is $14.93, but Amazon has it available for $12.99 as of this posting.
I received a copy of this DVD in order to view it and share my thoughts on it. All opinions are my own.
