Giveaway: EarPlanes

If you fly a lot, or like us, live around the mountains, you are probably familiar with the popping and pressure of your ears that comes with it. Your body can have trouble equalizing the air pressure difference between the plane’s cabin atmosphere and the inner ear - a condition called barotrauma that is experienced by roughly 25% of all air travelers. It also happens as you are crossing through the mountains, or around here - even when the air is heavy. It seems like at least once or twice a month, we're asking each other if our ears feel like they are going to pop. It's the weirdest thing I was not prepared for when we moved to Washington.

Chewing gum or sucking on a candy can help for some people, but there's an easier way to help provide protection from ear pain and discomfort during flight (or road trips!). EarPlanes are a patented pressure regulating way to help relieve ear pressure. Made from soft, hypoallergenic latex free silicone, they fit inside your ear with a comfortable fit. Unlike having headphones on your ears all flight long (which I'll admit is how I saw most of the world lol), EarPlanes have the exclusive CeramX filter which allows you to hear all announcements by the flight attendants and pilots - as well as still listen to headphones.

EarPlanes are disposable after two flights (basically one round trip flight). It's not recommended you reuse them more than that, because pollen, dust, and even moisture can reduce their effectiveness.

To use, pinch your nose and blow to clear your ears, then insert one hour before landing. Don't remove them until the door of the plane has been opened and you're getting ready to leave the plane. You can also wear them before takeoff, and removing when the plane reaches maximum altitude.

EarPlanes have been tested by US Navy Pilots, and are available in both child size as well as adult size. They give a noise reduction rating of 20 decibels, which is pretty good. If you've ever been stuck sitting near the engines, you'll be glad to get any reduction in the noise!

You can purchase EarPlanes at major drug stores and big box stores, as well as at some airport shops. The suggested retail price is $9.00.

Win it! Want to win a pair of EarPlanes for your next trip? To enter, share with us your dream trip.
